You Can Take the Teacher Out of Kentucky, but You Can't Take Kentucky Out of the Kid (Who is in Kentucky Enjoying His Life)

The original plan was for me to miraculously break away from a ridiculous schedule of time commitments, to finally get back to Louisville for a short visit. Chitunga managed to make it happen, but there was no room for me to escape, no matter how much I tried. The starts didn't align, except for him (and for Sue). My envy is at an all time high.

Yesterday, while knee-deep in meetings and University shenanigans, Sue sent a series of photos capturing Chitunga dipping a Maker's Mark bottle of whiskey in their signature red wax. I want to dip bottles, too. No fair he is having all the fun and enjoying great company without me.

Alas, sometimes we must live vicariously through others, especially during a time like we are living right now, on a day where there are so many things to worry about.

I am grateful for the moment of love sent to me from the touring of Sue and Chitunga and really do wish I could be there, too. I've currently cut the joys of bourbon out of my weekly repertoire and promised Chitunga I'll resume with him over turkey and gravy when he comes home for a visit later this month. I am jealous of his youth and willingness to be on the go...go...go...all the time, finding a way to make time for himself along the way (I should learn from him).

Ah, but for day 2 of a 14-hour work day with only one more to go. Daylights Saving Time? Um, I guess. Seems that I am waking an extra hour early and, therefore, getting 60 more minutes to labor. Not sure if that is the way it's supposed to go.

Onward. Thankful that I have work, it's abundant, and I'm in need...but phew...I need a trip to Louisville, too.
